“After an unprecedented search headed by casting directors Who Will Be In The New Harry Potter Show Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are happy to announce we have discovered our Harry, Hermione and Ron. The brilliance of these three individual performers is beautiful to watch, and we cannot wait for the world to experience their magic united onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of youngsters who auditioned. It’s been a genuine delight to discover the wealth of youthful talent out there,” said showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod in a statement.
The “Harry Potter” roles lifted Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint to worldwide prominence in the early 2000s, and the HBO series may very well achieve the same for McLaughlin, Stanton and Stout, who are mostly beginners. McLaughlin participated in “Grow,” a new comedy on Sky starring Nick Frost and Golda Rosheuvel, while Stanton played as Matilda in “Matilda: The Musical” on the West End from 2023-2024. “Harry Potter” will be Stout’s first important role.
